Remember to have a friend with a car with a functioning battery nearby to assist in the process. Ensure the vehicles are positioned close enough for easy connection but not touching. Follow the correct connection procedure (positive to positive, negative to a suitable earth point on the engine block of the vehicle being jump-started, away from the battery) to avoid damage and injury. Once connected, start the running vehicle and allow it to run at a fast idle for a few minutes before attempting to start the flat battery vehicle. Carefully disconnect the leads once the vehicle starts.
